Newsletter 5

Well done to all our children, particularly those who have settled so well into our Nursery and Reception classes this half term.

Also, a special welcome to children who have joined us at St. Michael’s from other areas during the course of this half term.

Many thanks to all parents who have returned the ‘parent view’ survey. Overall, the responses are overwhelmingly positive, however, I will address any issues which arise as a result of parents’ feedback. May I reiterate my “open door” policy to deal with situations as they arise. As a school we continually strive to reflect on our provision for children in delivering quality education within a consistently safe environment.

Bonfire Tickets
Tickets are still available from the school office for the Abbotsfield Park Bonfire on Saturday 8th November.

Thank you to all parents who contributed towards our Bags2School Collection on Friday 17th October.

Parents’ Evenings
Have you remembered to return your preferred times on the pro-forma for the forthcoming Parents’ Evenings?

Brownie/Guides/Cubs/Scouts/other uniformed organisations
In consideration of our Remembrance Centenary Festival on Thursday 6th November your child may wear their special uniform to school.

Remembrance Centenary Service – 2.30 p.m. in School
Further to the letter from Mrs. Lucas regarding specific information from the First World War, she would still be pleased to hear from any families who may have items, letters or memories which could be shared with the children during this Service.
Children from Year 1 to Year 6 will be involved in the Service – Reception class children will not take part in view of the nature of this Service, and we would request that parents do not bring along younger siblings.
Poppies will be on sale in school on Thursday and Friday this week and when we return to school on Tuesday 4th November.

Individual Photographs
The photographer, Steve Rosewell will be coming to school on Thursday 20th November to take family group/individual photographs. If you have younger pre-school children to be included in the photograph please arrive at school from 8.45 a.m. to enable Steve to do the family groups first.
School Meals
Please review your order for meals after half term as the menu has changed slightly to include a baguette/sandwich/wrap option.

Autumn Half Term
School closes at 3.30 p.m. this Friday 24th October for Half Term. The children return to school on Tuesday 4th November. (Staff Training Day Monday 3rd November.)
