Newsletter 8 – Spring Term 2016

Friday 5th February

Dear Parents
It has been a busy half term with our Year 6 children attending Crucial Crew, the whole of KS2 taking part in a Eucharist service at church and the voting in of a new school council.
World Book Day
We are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March 2016. The focus this year will be on poetry and details of activities will be given to the children nearer the time. Children may come to school dressed up as their favourite book character. They will have the opportunity to show their costumes to the school during a special assembly. The school kitchen will be offering a World Book Day lunch which is available to order online. Alongside this celebration we are holding a School Book Fair. This will take place on Tuesday 1st March, Wednesday 2nd March, Thursday 3rd March and Friday 5th March in the school hall between 3.30 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.
Please come along and browse with your children and encourage them to read for pleasure and information. Your child will be given a £1 World Book Day voucher which can be used towards the purchase of any book on sale at the Fair.
Sainsbury’s Active Kid Vouchers
We are once again collecting the Sainsbury’s Sports Vouchers. They enable us to purchase extra resources for use by all the children, thank you for supporting us.
School Nursing Service
Elizabeth Ross, our School Nurse, will be visiting school on Wednesday 24th February between 8.30 and 9.30 a.m. to offer a drop in session for parents to discuss any health concerns they may have with regard to their child and how this may be affecting their school life.
PTA Friendship Day
The PTA are holding a Friendship day on Friday 12th February. They are raising funds for our children to enjoy a whole school activity day later in the year. The children are invited to come to school wearing something red. A £1.50 donation per child would be appreciated, which includes automatic entry into the raffle.
Bags 2 School
Thank you to all who supported our Bags 2 School initiative. We raised £65 towards school funds.
Trafford Teaching School Alliance – Train To Teach
A meeting is being held at Seymour Park Community School Primary School on Thursday 25th February 2016, 4 – 7pm for anyone who may be interested in a teaching career. For more information please visit or call 0161 872 1150.
