Newsletter 6

As we come to the end of our first half term I would like to thank you all for your continued support and help. We have had a busy start to the new school year. Our Year 6 class attended a Roald Dahl day at Wellacre High School and Flixton Girls. They have also just returned from their residential trip to Castleton, which despite the weather, proved to be most enjoyable. Year 5 visited Assembly which parents attended. The whole school and church community came together to enjoy a fabulous Michaelmas Fair. Many thanks once
again to all who helped make this event such a success.

Parents Evening
Parents Evenings Thursday 7th November 3.45 – 7.30 p.m.
Monday 11th November 3.45 – 6.00 p.m.
Tea and coffee will be served during the evening. The company Dolce, who will be providing our school meals from January 2014, will also be available on the evenings to provide sample menus and answer any questions you may have with regard to the new system.

Individual and Family School Photographs
The photographer will be in school on Thursday 7th November from 9.00 to take individual and family group photographs. You may bring pre-school children and babies to the hall from 8.55 a.m. and these photographs will be taken first, with siblings. Please ensure your school age children go into class at the usual time so that they can be registered. Children with brothers and sisters in school and nursery will be photographed together unless you request otherwise.

Samaritans Purse
We are once again taking part in Operation Christmas Child an initiative run by the charity Purse. You are invited to donate a shoebox filled with suitable gifts to be distributed to children in need at Christmas. A leaflet accompanying this newsletter details the type of gifts required and more information about the charity. Shoeboxes need to be returned to school by Friday 8th November. Thank you in advance for your support.

Staff Car Park
Please note that the staff car park must not be used as a drop off/pick up point for children arriving and leaving school. Parents are asked to use the side gate by the Year 5 classroom to enter and leave the school playground and not the gate leading onto the staff car park.

Safety Issue
It has been brought to my attention that children are climbing onto the roof of the outdoor storage unit both before and after school. Obviously this is a safety concern and I would ask that you prevent your child from doing so and if you see any other child on roof please notify a member of staff.

Holiday Finishing Time
Please note that in the future there will be no early finish at the end of a school term, we will close at our normal time of 3.30 p.m.. Therefore when we finish at Christmas on Friday 20th December it will be at 3.30 p.m.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish Mrs Bailey all the best as she leaves us to take up a new post. Mrs Bailey has been a valued and hard working member of staff. She will continue in s so we are not losing her completely.

Dinner money for the next half term – 34 days @ £2.00, £10 per week or £68.00 for the half term.

We return to school on Tuesday 5th November 2013. May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very restful and happy half term break.

Alison Drayton
