Staffing School Year 2016/2017

30th June 2016
Information for parents
In recent months you may have seen reports in the media concerning the financial pressures that many schools are currently experiencing due to Local Authority budget reductions. A few months ago, St Michael’s was advised by Trafford LA that we would need to make a number of staffing reductions in order to achieve an acceptable budget position over the next 2 years. The Finance & Personnel committees have therefore been working with Mrs Drayton and her leadership team to consider the options available to the school.
It is with regret that I must now inform you that the following members of staff will be leaving at the end of term due to redundancy,
Mrs Morris – June 2016
Mrs Duckett
Mrs Holland
At St. Michaels we value all of our teaching and support staff and the school would not have chosen to lose any member of our team, however in the current circumstances it has sadly been unavoidable.
I would like to offer my assurance that based upon current information; this exercise will not need to be repeated in the future. I would also like to assure you that Mrs Drayton and her team have worked extremely hard to ensure that any impact on the children and their education has been minimised.
In September 2016, the teaching staff structure is as follows: Mrs Smith and Mrs Clarke and Mrs Willshire Nursery; Mrs Tomlinson and Mrs Gerrard Reception; Miss Flood Year 1; Miss Fisher Year 2; Miss Livert Year 3; Mr Massey Year 4; Mrs Elkington 4 days with Mrs Rodger 1 day in Year 5; Mrs Prole (Deputy) 4 days with a day management time and Mrs Rodger 1 day Year 6. Miss Mathers will continue to support groups in KS2, and some SEN. Mrs Willshire will continue to cover PPA with PE teaching, Mrs Lucas will cover PPA with 1.5 days music teaching. Mrs Ryder will work 4 mornings a week in Y1. I have been involved in the appointments of Miss Wright and Miss Kier as trainee TA’s on a one year contract. Miss Wright will cover the Weds am in Year 1 and the other 4 mornings in Year 2. Miss Wright will work in the afternoons between Year 1 and Year 2. Miss Kier will work in Y3.
On behalf of the St Michael’s Governing Body
Debbie Gould
Chair of Governors.
