Newsletter 4 – Autumn Term 2015
Tuesday 21st October
I have just been reviewing the Twitter feed on the school website. There has been a great deal to celebrate this half
term. We shared a successful Harvest Service with a generous amount of gifts donated to support those less fortunate
than ourselves. We enjoyed a Macmillan coffee morning, in partnership with Lloyds Bank. We have welcomed visitors
from Bible Encounter, The Urmston Bookshop, The Wild Roadshow and a Karate Expert into school. The children
enjoyed ‘Fitness Monday’ and the Kinetic Science Theatre. In addition, our Y6 children took part in their cycling
proficiency and our Year 1 children visited Stockley Farm.
Last Week was test week and we look forward to sharing your children’s results and progress with you at parents
evening.
The staff have benefitted from training in Literacy, using real books to inspire writing. New members of staff have
attended Kagan training.
Forthcoming Dates for your Diary

The photographer, Steve Rosewell will be coming to school on Wednesday 4th November to take family group/individual

School Pond
I have just received the news that the application to Manchester Airport for funding for the school pond has been
successful. The PTA has been awarded a grant of just over £2000 which will go towards developing the pond area.
PTA
The Friendship bench, purchased by the PTA has arrived in school. There are plans to decorate it and make it unique.
Homework Club
Miss Mathers will be running a homework club after October half term, from 12.30 – 1.00 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays for any KS1/KS2 children who would like to complete their homework in school.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a restful half term break and look forward to welcoming you all back on
Monday 2nd November.
